Election Day is November 3, 2026. Candidate filing opens August 5, 2026 for all candidates; closes August 11, 2026 for incumbents; and closes August 18, 2026 for non-incumbents. Individuals must file in-person at Elgin City Hall in order to be approved to circulate signature sheets. The following candidates will appear on the ballot for City office:

Ballot Measures
31-124: Shall Elgin voters amend the existing Charter to change the City Administrator selection process and responsibilities?
- The Mayor shall appoint and remove the City Administrator with a vote of Council as specified by the contract.
- The City Administrator’s responsibilities shall change from “sign all orders on the treasury” to “oversee management of the treasury.”
- The City Administrator is recognized as the City Recorder but the Council may split the roles.
31-125: Shall Elgin voters amend the existing Charter to give the Mayor the power to appoint City Committee Members?
- This measure amends the City Charter to give the Mayor the power to appoint and remove all City Committee members with a vote of the council.
31-126: Shall Elgin voters amend the existing Charter to extend the election filing period from 3 weeks to 12 weeks?
- This measure amends the City Charter to expand the candidate filing window for the City’s elected offices to match other cities in Oregon.
